FC 26 Chemistry Style Changes in Ultimate Team & How it effects players

The FC 26 Web App is expected to release two days before FC 26 Ultimate Edition is released, here is the key information that you need to know to get ahead of the competition.

It’s been a very long time since EA FC 26 have remapped  chemistry styles, this year they have changed how the boost of chemistry styles affect the player now, players don’t get the same boost they would have otherwise got in previous years, reducing the power curve. I’m going to go over the main changes and what you can do to mitigate the changes.

EA FC 26 - What are they changing with chemistry boosts

They are changing how effective the boost of chemistry styles are. For example, if you put a “Shadow” chemistry style on a player that has 80 pace, they would get a +8 increase to have 88 pace in total when they are on full chemistry. The new changes have reduced all effectiveness of chemistry styles, so in this example, a player in FC 26 who has 80 pace and a shadow chemistry style will only get a boost of +6, meaning a total pace of 86.

The previous boost model for chemistry styles was 4/8/12, in FC 26 it has been reduced to 3/6/9 depending on the chemistry style, so +9 is now the new maximum boost.

See the image below, which consists of a table of changes to the chemistry style.

You can see clearly for a lot of the chemistry styles, there is a great reduction in how these boosts affect a player.

What does this mean when selecting players in Ultimate Team

With these new changes, you have to take into account very carefully who you choose as a player especially for your starter teams, think of a play that you want to play,  always ask yourself the question with a chemistry boost and you can see this by looking on an external website, calculate is it worth using the player if the boost is not as high?

Many players like to go for fast & pacey players, now whereas I still think that is the META, you have to think about it last year you got +12 finishing with the finisher chemistry style, making any starter player with pace quite clinical in front of goal as long as they had around 75 finishing, however in contrast, we can see now that you only get a boost of +9, so you have to be meticulous in which players that you choose, and which chemistry styles you have to apply.

My Top Tips and advice for adapting to the new changes

My best advice would be when you’re choosing a player think carefully what chemistry style you want to apply, there could be a chance that chemistry styles could be reduced in value, but I think this won’t be the case, chemistry styles are so vital even on the top players you always need a chemistry style, it’s been very clear that the approach taken this year is to reduce the power curve as EA Sports FC have mentioned this in their deep dive for Ultimate Team.

I would strongly say have a look at what players you want to put into your team then take into account the chemistry styles, and then work out if that card is feasible, then now could be defenders that might not be as effective as they once were with that pace boost decrease with the shadow camp style for example.

How to save coins in Ultimate Team & advice for buying players in the transfer market

Bonus Tip:  when you’re searching for the play in the transfer market, always buy the play out with a chemistry style, for example let’s say you want to buy Dembele, and his Buy Now price is 100,000 coins for an example,  what time will we do is I try to search for the card with the most expensive chemistry styles this is normally a hunter for attackers or shadow for defenders, which then in turn, saves me around 5,000 coins, and I can give it a try, if I don’t like it, I could always change the chemistry style after.

Bonus tip:  Always check your existing club for chemistry styles, if you are ever in doubt, try to buy the card with the most expensive chemistry style

The web app for FC 26 is expected to release at 6pm UK time (BST) on the 17th September 2025, historically it always releases around this time, two days before the release date. Sometimes there may be a delay in getting on because of server overloads.
