A full breakdown of every EA Sports FC 27 edition, what you actually get for your money, and the one most people should preorder before the 31st of August window shuts.
So you want to play FC 27 and now EA has hit you with three different editions and a big jump in price. Standard, Ultimate and the brand new Ultimate Plus. Which one do you actually buy?
I am going to go through all three, show you exactly what you get, and tell you the one I would pick. And no, it is not the same answer for everyone. The version that is right for you depends entirely on how you play the game. Get this wrong and you either waste money on stuff you will never touch, or you miss bonuses you can never get back once the preorder window closes.
Watch the full video breakdown above before you preorder.

All details confirmed by EA. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 pricing differs from the figures above, and Eurozone prices run roughly ten euros higher on the top editions. Ultimate Plus disappears after the 31st of August and cannot be added on later.
The Eurozone and a few other regions sit a little higher, usually around ten quid more on the top editions. FC 27 launches worldwide on the 25th of September 2026, and anyone on Ultimate or Ultimate Plus can start playing seven days early on the 18th of September.
There is also a free version called FC 27 Lite if you just want to try Kick Off and a couple of modes before spending anything.
You can check live prices and preorder straight from the official EA FC 27 page.
Before we get into the editions, burn these two dates into your memory. This is where most people slip up.
31st of August 2026. This is the big one. After this date the Ultimate Plus edition disappears completely. Gone. You also lose the 85 plus rated International Icon that comes with the Ultimate edition early bird window.
24th of September 2026. The final preorder cut off for the rest of the Ultimate bonuses and the season pass content. Order after this and you start losing the good stuff.
So if you are the type to wait for reviews and order on launch day, understand what that actually costs you. No Ultimate Plus. No early Icon. No seven days early access. You get the base game and not a lot else.
The Standard edition is the full game. Every mode is there. Career Mode, Clubs, Ultimate Team and the new mode called The Grounds. You are not locked out of anything when it comes to actually playing.
You also get dual entitlement now, which used to be locked behind the pricey editions. That means if you buy on PS4 you get the PS5 version too at no extra cost, and the same goes for Xbox One to Series X and S. So if your mate is still on old gen, that is sorted.
Here is the bit a lot of people miss. Preorder the Standard edition before the 31st of August and you get an untradeable 92 plus rated Icon dropped straight into your current FC 26 Ultimate Team club. Preorder before the 24th of September and you also pick up Career Mode Icons and Heroes, a five star coach, a five star youth scout and some cosmetics for The Grounds.
Who is it for? Honestly, the Standard edition only makes sense in two cases. Either you are tight on cash, or you mainly play Kick Off and Career Mode and you do not really touch Ultimate Team. If that is you, save your money and grab this one.
The killer problem with Standard is simple. No early access. And for anyone who lives in Ultimate Team, that is a deal breaker. More on why in a second.
See the table above for what’s included, but you get the extra FP points, premium pass, the International Icon, and the extra evo slot. The key aspect is the early access to play Ultimate Team early from the 18th September. 7 Days early access is key here.
Quick heads up so you do not get caught out. The 93 plus Icon pick and the stat boosts are for FC 26, so they drop into your current club right now. The bigger Ultimate Team rewards only turn up when FC 27 launches. People mix this up every single year, so do not expect these to make you good on day one.
This is the brand new top tier and it is aimed squarely at hardcore Ultimate Team players. It is only sold during the early bird window, so once the 31st of August passes you cannot buy it at all.
You get everything in the Ultimate edition, then a serious pile of extras on top.
Instead of one season pass you get Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5, so five in total. Your FC Points jump from 6,000 to 10,000, delivered across five monthly drops. And you get a 1 of 5 Hall of FUT Player Pick, choosing between Akinfenwa, Giovani dos Santos, Remy, Fellaini or Ellia.
Now a big chunk of the community is calling this greedy, and fair enough, £140 is a lot of money. But here is the honest maths.
If you are someone who buys FC Points every year, or you always pay for the season passes anyway, this edition genuinely saves you money. Think about it. Five season passes plus 10,000 FC Points is a huge slab of value you were going to spend on regardless. For roughly £40~ more than the Ultimate edition you are getting close to £60~ of FC Points value, and that is before you even count the Hall of FUT player. So yes, in terms of value you get “more” than what you pay.
If you do not spend money on the game through the year, skip it. But if you are a year round grinder who buys points and passes no matter what, the Ultimate Plus quietly works out as the cheaper option in the long run. If you are a trader, you can consider getting the Ultimate Edition, spending the excess on FP points when the game comes out, load up the extra FP points and start trading to easily grow your coins.
Right, straight answers, no fence sitting.
You only play Kick Off or Career Mode, or money is tight. Get the Standard edition. You are not missing anything that matters to how you play.
You play Ultimate Team but do not spend much money. Get the Ultimate edition. Treat the seven days early access as the main reason. It is more fun and it gives your coins a proper head start. This is the minimum I would recommend for any Ultimate Team player.
You are a hardcore player who buys points or passes every year. Get the Ultimate Plus edition. You are spending that money anyway, so you may as well get five passes, 10,000 FC Points and a free Hall of FUT player out of it.
The real mistake to avoid is defaulting to Standard because it is cheapest when you actually live in Ultimate Team, or sitting on your hands until launch day and letting the early bird bonuses vanish for good.

FC 27 Editions Comparison FAQ
The worldwide release is the 25th of September 2026. Ultimate and Ultimate Plus owners can play up to seven days early from the 18th of September.
Ultimate Plus adds four extra season passes for five in total, 4,000 more FC Points for 10,000 in total, and a 1 of 5 Hall of FUT Player Pick, all on top of everything in the Ultimate edition.
It is a mix. The 92 plus Icon on Standard and the 93 plus Icon pick on the Ultimate editions are for FC 26, so you can use them in your current club right now. The 85 plus International Icon and the Hall of FUT pick land in FC 27 Ultimate Team when the game launches.
No. EA does not offer edition upgrades after purchase. If you buy the Standard edition and later decide you want the early access or the extra FC Points, you would need to buy a separate edition rather than pay the difference. It is worth deciding upfront rather than assuming you can top up afterwards.
